It's cold and rainy here, and I'm crawling back into bed...
Hope you are all having a better weekend than we are here!

Here's a close up. You would quilt on the pink lines, and the blue is there to accentuate the feathers and the design.

I plan on having a proof of each printed up now, then offering them for sale on etsy and for quilt shop retailers. I keep thinking maybe I'll make a table runner for myself with one of these pairs, with a block of something else between the two angels. We'll see. I'm so busy putting together a selection of panels, I haven't done much sewing (sniffling). But I'm going to get rusty if I don't quilt something up soon! Besides....if I don't quilt soon, you are all going to think all I do is make panels, and that I don't know how to sew! (wink)
First off, since I haven't e-mailed everyone back who left comments, I wanted thank my friends for their input.
I'm not sure this piece is done or not. I'm at an impasse, and stepping away from it temporarily. I know at the very least I will need to add a border, and do some minor tweaking.
I was hoping to get some feedback! I know that if I go with this darker background, and the crescent moon idea, I will have to make some color/value adjustments to the angel. Also, to fit the moon in the composition, I'll have to scale her down in size.
But I like the concept idea for the overall image better, than to simply have her in the clouds.
While many people have another bird on their minds this week with Thanksgiving coming up, I've had this bird on my mind that is in no danger of ending up on the menu!
Now although I have seen many birds turn up in the beautiful quilts of blogger friends, I have to tell you, I am not a "bird" person. I like them well enough, but don't readily gravitate toward them as a subject in my work. But I have always thought if I was going to do a quilt with one, it only seemed appropriate that it would be a flamingo. I live in Florida, after all, and many of my subjects tend to be tropically themed. So here above is a panel design I just completed (I think). I was going to add about 6 other pics so you could see the progress from where it started, but I nixed the idea at the thought of all the upload time. I am anxious to see it in print, and quilt it up!
And here is an older whole cloth design that I modified for a panel. I have a version of it in blue and one in hot pink, too. But I'm just showing this green one.
I like how this effect of replacing the ordinary black lines turned out. A person would quilt on the banana cream colored lines, and then the green gives it further oomph! Then of course there's plenty of blank space in the panel design for fillers. I already ordered myself a sample, and I can't wait to get it, and quilt it up.
